LLCP hits $2bn hard cap for oversubscribed lower-middle market fund

Los Angeles-based private equity firm LLCP has closed its fourth lower-middle-market fund – LLCP Lower Middle Market IV– at its $2bn hard cap after attracting commitments well above its original $1.7bn target.

Fundraising bagel in December 2025 with the vehicle receiving backing from existing limited partners as well as a new group of institutional investors from around the world.

The investor base includes sovereign wealth funds, public pension schemes, endowments, foundations, insurers, investment consultants and family offices.

The close follows the firm’s $3.6bn Flagship Fund VII, which reached its final close in June 2025. LLCP said it has raised $6.4bn across its platform over the past two years, highlighting continued investor demand for its strategy despite a challenging fundraising environment for private equity.

LMM IV will use LLCP’s “Structured Private Equity” strategy, combining debt and equity investments to provide tailored financing solutions to lower-middle-market companies, entrepreneurs and management teams.

The firm targets businesses operating in sectors including business services, franchising and multi-unit operations, education and training, and engineered products and manufacturing.

Michael Weinberg, co-managing partner at LLCP, said the strong response to the fund reflected investor confidence in the firm’s strategy and investment team, as well as its track record across different market environments.

Co-managing partner Matthew Frankel said early support from existing investors helped generate interest from new institutional limited partners.

LMM IV follows LLCP Lower Middle Market III, which closed in 2021 with $1.4bn in commitments.

Lazard acted as placement agent for the latest fundraise, while Kirkland & Ellis served as legal counsel.
