Private equity firm BC Partners has agreed to acquire a co-controlling stake in Swiss pharmaceutical manufacturer InfoRLife, marking the second investment from its latest flagship buyout fund and further expanding its presence in the pharmaceutical supply chain, according to a report by Bloomberg.

The investment will see BC Partners purchase a stake of close to 50% from InfoRLife chief executive Sergio Dusci and the founding families behind parent company ACS Dobfar. ACS Dobfar will retain the remaining ownership interest following completion of the transaction.

While financial terms have not been disclosed, reports indicate the deal values InfoRLife at around $1.5bn.

Founded in 2002 as a division of ACS Dobfar, InfoRLife manufactures ready-to-use injectable medicines supplied in intravenous infusion bags. The company operates in a market benefiting from growing demand as healthcare providers increasingly adopt pre-prepared infusion products to improve patient safety, reduce medication errors and enhance hospital efficiency.

The acquisition continues BC Partners’ strategy of investing across the pharmaceutical supply chain. The firm has completed a number of healthcare transactions in recent years, including investments in generic drug manufacturers Biogaran and Synthon.

The deal is also the second investment made by BC Partners Fund XII, the firm’s latest flagship private equity vehicle, which is currently midway towards its €5bn fundraising target.

BC Partners said the investment presents an opportunity to partner with the founding shareholders to accelerate the company’s development. In addition to supporting future growth, the private equity firm sees scope to strengthen the business by building a more centralised management structure and enhancing its commercial platform.
